Welcome Alaina, NECBT's Newest Intern/Resident!

Alaina Brokaw is NECBT's latest intern/resident.
We are excited to announce that we have a new member of our Intern/Resident program here at NECBT! Please help us in welcoming Alaina Brokaw to our NECBT Team!

Alaina holds a B.A. in Psychology from UConn and is currently pursuing an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling at Yeshiva University in Bronx, NY. She has experience assisting college students who are on academic probation, conducting career counseling, and founding and facilitating discussion groups.

Before joining us at NECBT, Alaina completed an internship with the Career Development Center at Purchase College in Purchase, NY. During her internship, Alaina counseled students on different career-related issues such as deciding whether or not to attend graduate school, balancing the demands of a job and internship, succeeding in an internship, finding a job, and applying to graduate school. Alaina also provided students with resume, cover letter, and personal statement critiques.

Alaina also currently sees patients at Star Psychiatric in Danbury, CT, where she helps individuals learn coping skills to tolerate painful emotions.

The NECBT Intern/Resident program is part of our joint initiative with The Cordier Institute, also founded by Thomas A. Cordier. The Cordier Institute exists with the primary intent to teach Interpersonal Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT) to as many Mental Health providers as possible. Thomas Cordier developed I-CBT to offer a universal, structured, and successful treatment plan for patients living with Anxiety, Depression, and related disorders.

While here, Alaina will learn I-CBT principles and methodology directly from Thomas A. Cordier, and will also learn how to apply I-CBT in both individual and group treatment. It is our hope at NECBT that The Cordier Institute will help us to improve the quality of mental healthcare and continue to move mental health forward.
